Dress shirts are an important staple to a man’s wardrobe. We can
count ourselves lucky that variations of this basic collar, cuff design
has not changed much over the past century or two. The only thing I ask
of my fellow men is to do away with the larger than life collars of the
seventies. There is a reason why such a look is called ‘period
costuming’ here in the present. If you really like the print and fabric
of the shirt, then you can always go to the nearest tailor (Or come to
us!) and get the collar altered for an updated look.
Which brings us to the topic at hand, fabrics for the dress shirts.
In most cases, including myself, we shop for a dress shirt that looks
good and fits well. We’ll glance at the fabric content making sure that
the cotton percentage is higher than everything else, but often enough
we miss out the kind of fabric the dress shirt has been stitched
together with.
